On Wednesday, July 02, a blast in Bajaur shook the nation. At least five people, including the assistant commissioner, were killed. And 11 others were injured as a government vehicle was targeted in KPK, Bajaur district.

A bomb blast in Bajaur Khar tehsil, Sadiqabad area, on Nawagai Road killed five people—including Assistant Commissioner Faisal Ismail and Tehsildar Abdul Wakil, who were both key government officials—and injured at least 18 others on Wednesday. The terrorist attack in Bajaur targeted a government vehicle and was claimed by the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). This blast in KPK occurred amid a surge in militant activity across the country. particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the TTP’s withdrawal from a ceasefire in November 2022.

District Police Officer Waqas Rafique of Bajaur confirmed that an intense blast in Bajaur had entirely destroyed the vehicle. The explosion also claimed the lives of Subedar Noor Hakim and police constable Rashid. The wounded were transported to the Khar District Headquarters, where emergency medical protocols were implemented.

KP Health Adviser Ihtisham Ali contacted hospital authorities to ensure the injured received immediate medical attention. KP Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed directed intelligence-based operations to apprehend those responsible for the terrorist attack in Bajaur. He deployed a special investigation team from the Counter-Terrorism Department.

In response to the blast in Bajaur, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah ordered a full inquiry.He also ordered reinforced medical services. Funeral prayers for the deceased, held with state honors at the Police Lines in Bajaur, were a mark of respect and recognition for their service and sacrifice. Their bodies were then sent to their hometowns under police escort.
