Dubai flying taxi vision is coming to life as construction began on the DXV vertiport near Dubai International Airport. This upcoming flying taxi Dubai network will use the new station as its central hub. Officials expect it to launch by early 2026.

Dubai flying taxi brings sky travel closer to everyday reality
Dubai Airports confirmed that the DXV facility will cover about 3,100 square metres and accommodate up to 170,000 passengers annually. The vertiport will link air taxis to existing ground transport. This includes the metro and car services. Together, they will offer seamless mobility across the city
The first Dubai flying taxi flights will be operated by Joby Aviation, using electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. These will carry one pilot and four passengers. The air taxis are expected to reduce travel times dramatically—flights from the airport to Palm Jumeirah will take just 10 to 12 minutes, compared to up to 45 minutes by car.
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed a six-year exclusive agreement with Joby. The company successfully completed its first test flight in the UAE earlier this year, proving the aircraft’s performance under extreme summer heat.
The flying taxi Dubai plan will connect the city through a network of four key stations. DXB, Palm Jumeirah, Downtown Dubai, and Dubai Marina. These spots weren’t chosen at random. They’re some of the busiest areas in the city, making them ideal for helping people get around faster while also taking some pressure off the city’s busy roads.
Now that work on the DXV vertiport is underway, Dubai is gearing up to become the first city in the world with a fully regulated Dubai flying taxi service. It’s a bold move that fits right into the city’s bigger plan. In order to lead the way in smart, sustainable transport. And to make sky travel an everyday reality, not just a futuristic idea.
