Gaza Hospital in southern Gaza has reported the deaths of 24 people near an aid distribution point. According to Palestinian eyewitnesses, Israelite soldiers allegedly opened fire as civilians gathered in search of food on Saturday.
In contrast, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed they caused “no known injured individuals” from their fire in the area. An Israeli official said they fired warning shots at threats, but the claims remain unverified due to Israel’s Gaza media ban.
As reported by BBC,several body bags in the courtyard of Nasser Hospital, surrounded by nurses and civilians with visible bloodstains. In one clip, a man claimed the group came under fire while waiting for aid, stating the shooting lasted around five minutes.
A paramedic in the footage accused Israelite soldiers of targeting civilians “in cold blood.” However, the BBC has not confirmed the authenticity of these videos.
Reuters also interviewed witnesses who described people being shot in the head and chest. The news agency observed multiple bodies wrapped in white cloths at Nasser Hospital.
Israeli forces have been killing people almost daily across Gaza as they seek humanitarian aid, making such incidents disturbingly frequent.
Since March, Israel has enforced a full blockade on aid entering the Gaza Strip. A military offensive resumed shortly after a two-month ceasefire collapsed, with Israel aiming to pressure Hamas into releasing hostages. Although some restrictions were relaxed in May, critical shortages of food, medicine, and fuel remain.
The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has warned of a growing hunger crisis, noting thousands of malnourished children and rising numbers each day.
Israel and the US launched a new aid system run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, using US security contractors in military zones to block aid from Hamas.
The UN human rights office reported 798 aid-related deaths, including 615 near GHF sites in southern and central Gaza. Another 183 deaths near UN and other aid convoys.
The GHF reported figures, labeling them inaccurate and reliant on information from Gaza’s Hamas-controlled health ministry. These claims remain unverified, as Israel has barred international media, including the BBC, from Gaza.
Security contractor for the GHF has come forward with allegations to the BBC, claiming he saw colleagues shooting at unarmed Palestinians. The GHF has firmly rejected these accusations, calling them completely false.
Hamas launched the October 7, 2023 attack, killing about 1,200 people and capturing 251 hostages. Since then, the Hamas-run health ministry reports that violence has killed over 57,800 people in Gaza, many of them civilians.
