“Six SHOs, a DSP, a divisional SP, and an SSP rushed to the site along with armed policemen,” a police officer said. “This action was directed by Lahore Operations DIG Faisal Kamran to rescue members of the Ahmadi community at any cost,” he added. He confirmed that some women and children were also present inside the worship site.

As the mob tried to surround the area, police launched a major operation. Worshippers, including women and children, were rescued and moved to safety, and security was reinforced to prevent another mob attack on the Ahmedi worship place.

Senior police officials also engaged known local figures and religious leaders to help defuse tensions and restore peace.

An Ahmadi worshipper shared that the community had built the worship place on Poonch Road and had it officially registered. He said they were inside offering prayers when they heard loud slogans outside, creating panic and fear of an assault on the Ahmadi mosque.

“I also rushed out of the worship place using the backdoor, left my motorbike unattended, and ran to avoid a possible attack,” he said.

He described how he saw charged individuals gathering on the road, calling others to join the protest quickly. According to him, they appeared to be from a religious group issuing serious threats and demanding the closure of the worship site. The Ahmadi mosque, stormed by the protesters, became a scene of tension and fear.

The attack on the Ahmedi community was narrowly avoided. Police took many protesters into custody and shifted the Ahmadi worshippers to a safer location. “We took a sigh of relief once police arrived in strength,” the worshipper added.

Protesters had accused the Ahmadi community of violating Friday prayer schedules. However, the worshipper denied this claim and said the community strictly followed the given schedule.

Operations DIG Faisal Kamran confirmed the police had successfully prevented a planned mob attack on the Ahmedi worship place. He said a religious-cum-political party, pressing for a change in worship timing, had gathered its members outside.
