OGDCL Pakistan Discovers New Oil and Gas Reserves in Sindh

OGDCL Pakistan (Oil & Gas Development Company Limited) has announced a fresh oil and gas discovery in Sindh, giving a much-needed boost to the country’s energy outlook. The discovery was made from the Faakir‑1 exploratory well in the Kharo area, where early tests are showing promising results.

Drilling reached a depth of 4,185 meters. Initial flows included 6.4 million cubic feet of gas per day and 55 barrels of condensate. Experts say these figures are solid, especially in the current climate, where local energy production is vital.

Tando Allah Yar Sees Continued Growth in Energy Output

OGDCL has successfully revived another well, Dars West‑2, near Tando Allah Yar. It’s now producing 200 barrels of oil daily, along with 8 million cubic feet of gas and 37 metric tons of LPG. For residents in the region, that means a more stable energy supply and potential economic uplift.

Industry insiders note that areas like Tando Allah Yar are becoming increasingly important in Pakistan’s energy equation. The consistent output from smaller regional fields is helping reduce dependency on expensive imports.

The new reserves may not be massive in global terms, but they’re meaningful for Pakistan. Every barrel and every cubic foot of gas produced locally helps ease the burden on foreign exchange reserves and supports energy security at home.

With each step, OGDCL Pakistan is showing its commitment to long-term exploration and production, especially in regions that have historically been overlooked. And in doing so, it’s playing a quiet but crucial role in building resilience for the country’s future.
