The Cosby Show’s Malcolm-Jamal Warner Dies at 54

The Cosby Show’s Malcolm-Jamal Warner, an American actor, best known as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, has died at the age of 54.
Warner passed away during a family trip in Costa Rica, with officials confirming the cause as accidental drowning at Playa Grande around 14:00 (20:00 GMT) local time on Sunday.

Authorities reported that bystanders pulled Warner from the water and brought him to shore, where the Costa Rican Red Cross attempted to revive him. Unfortunately, medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

Warner leaves behind his wife and daughter.

In 1986, he received an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Series for his role in The Cosby Show. Bill Cosby personally selected Warner for the role of Theo Huxtable during the final day of a nationwide casting search, launching his breakout career.

The Cosby Show’s Malcolm-Jamal Warner added to his list of accolades by winning a Grammy Award in 2015 for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance, alongside Robert Glasper and Lalah Hathaway, for their rendition of Stevie Wonder’s Jesus Children of America.
