The UAE summer season is nearing its end, and residents can expect noticeable changes in the weather over the coming weeks. Forecasters view the end of the season from both meteorological and astronomical perspectives. They expect the intense heat gripping the nation to ease by the end of August, with cooler temperatures arriving in early September.
Experts divide meteorological patterns into three-month intervals. August signals the final stretch of summer in the UAE, bringing with it intense heat and a spike in humidity levels around mid-month. This combination will make the already high temperatures feel even more extreme. However, weather conditions are expected to shift as the season gradually ends.
Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, explains that the rising of this star at dawn traditionally signals the end of the most intense summer heat. Once the star appears—likely in late August—temperatures typically begin to ease, with noticeable drops during the early morning hours.
The astronomical season follows the Earth’s orbit around the sun and its axial tilt, which causes solstices and equinoxes. Based on this, summer in Dubai will officially end on Monday, September 22, making this year’s summer season three months and one day long. The autumnal equinox follows on Tuesday, September 23. This means the 2025 summer season will have lasted for a total of 93 days.
As humidity combines with already high temperatures, the UAE will experience the most intense heat of the season around mid-month. However, by the end of August, the arrival of the Suhail star will bring some relief. With its appearance at dawn, temperatures across the UAE will start to ease slightly, especially in the early morning hours, signaling the gradual end of the extreme summer heat.
