UAE Weather Alert: Rain Forecast as Peak Summer Ends

Dubai: The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a UAE weather alert for the coming days, putting residents across the country on high alert. Forecasters expect chances of rain in parts of the Emirates on the final day of the summer season in the UAE, while temperatures in some areas will soar to a scorching 47°C.

On Sunday, August 10, UAE residents will welcome relief as the summer season in the UAE ends. The country entered its peak summer phase, known as the Mirzam period, on July 29 when the Al Mirzam star — also called Sirius — rose from the eastern horizon, signalling the start of the most intense heat spell, with scorching desert winds reaching their peak.

Conditions are expected to be fair to partly cloudy, with a chance of convective (rainy) cloud formation in the eastern and southern regions that could bring rainfall.

Maximum temperature of inland areas will see highs of 43°C to 47°C, coastal regions 40°C to 44°C, and mountains 32°C to 38°C, with AccuWeather reporting a Dubai ‘RealFeel’ of 46°C.

The NCM forecasts fair to partly cloudy skies on Sunday, with chances of rain remaining low. On Saturday, showers in Fujairah and Al Ain gave residents welcome relief from the extreme summer heat, as temperatures peaked at 47.4°C in Al Ain’s Sweihan at 3 pm.

Light to moderate southeasterly to northeasterly winds will blow during the day, sometimes freshening to stir up dust at speeds of 10–25 km/h, reaching 40 km/h.

The Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea will remain calm.
