Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ Debuts on YouTube, Not OTT

Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, will skip traditional OTT platforms and release directly on YouTube Movies after its theatrical run. Starting August 1, viewers can watch the sports drama on-demand for INR 100 (around Dh4.5).

Aamir Khan Sitaare Zameen Par adopts a digital-first release model to make the film accessible to audiences without access to theatres or streaming services. The movie will launch in 38 countries, including the US, UK, and Australia, with prices adjusted for each region.

Aamir Khan, who produced the film, said he has spent the last 15 years trying to reach audiences who can’t access theatres or are unable to attend for various reasons.

India’s digital growth, rising internet usage, and widespread access to YouTube are helping Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par reach a global audience. With India now leading the world in electronic payments through UPI and digital penetration increasing daily, Aamir believes this new release model can connect with viewers across India and beyond.

The digital release of Sitaare Zameen Par will include subtitles and dubbed versions in multiple languages to make the film accessible to a broader audience.

A sequel to the 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par, the new film stars Aamir Khan as a basketball coach training a team of neurodivergent children. Genelia Deshmukh takes on a key role in the film.

Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par premiered in theatres on June 20.
