A Bangladeshi tailor living in Dubai won the Dh20 million jackpot in the latest Big Ticket draw — and incredibly, he did it on his very first attempt.
Sabuj Miah Amir Hossain Dewan, who has spent the past 18 years in Dubai, has worked hard on a modest tailor’s income to support his family back home in Bangladesh.
Dewan hit the jackpot in Series 277 of the Big Ticket draw, winning Dh20 million with ticket number 194560. He had bought the ticket on July 29, just days ahead of the grand prize draw.
Dewan won the entire Big Ticket prize on his own, buying the ticket solo without sharing it. “It was my first time buying a Big Ticket, and I did it myself,” he said proudly.
His decision to take a chance was spontaneous – sparked by conversations with friends and a bit of curiosity.
“I often heard about Big Ticket from friends around me, so I thought, why not take a chance? I travelled to Abu Dhabi and bought the ticket in-store.”
The Big Ticket winner said the news of his win left him completely stunned. “I’m just a humble tailor earning a modest income, so you can imagine the emotions I’m feeling,” he shared. “This win has the power to change my family’s future completely.”
For now, the 36-year-old Big Ticket winner is staying grounded. “I haven’t decided how I’ll use the prize money yet—I want to talk it over with my family first. I might buy another Big Ticket in the future, but right now, I’m just thankful and overwhelmed by this incredible blessing,” he added.
