Humaira Asghar’s death shocked the nation, as popular Pakistani actor and model Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead in her apartment in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Tuesday. The 32-year-old artist had been missing from public view. Her body was recovered from a rental.
The police said they arrived at the apartment around 3:15 pm on the orders of a local court to vacate the premises. When no one responded to repeated knocks, officers broke the lock and entered. Inside, they found Ali’s body in a severely decomposed state. The Crime Scene Unit was immediately called to collect forensic evidence from the scene.

DIG South Syed Asad Raza stated that officers broke into the apartment after receiving no response to repeated knocks. Inside, they discovered the 32-year-old’s lifeless body, which had been decaying for days. SSP South Mazhar Ali added that Humaira had been living alone in the rented flat since 2018.
According to police, Humaira had stopped paying rent since early 2024, prompting her landlord to approach the court. Forensic surgeon Dr. Samia Syed, who conducted the postmortem at Jinnah Hospital, said the body was badly decomposed, making it impossible to confirm the cause of Humaira Asghar’s death at this stage.
Dr. Syed confirmed that samples have been sent to a lab for chemical and DNA analysis. Only after these tests will authorities know whether drugs or toxins played a role in the death of Humaira Asghar. Some of her organs have been preserved for further forensic investigation.
So far, the case does not appear to be a murder, but police are exploring all possibilities. Officers are examining her mobile data and CCTV footage, and speaking with neighbours to piece together her final days. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
Humaira Asghar was known for her roles in dramas like Ehsaan Faramosh and Guru, and had a strong presence on social media. However, her family has refused to claim the body, saying they had cut all ties with her long ago.
